Puzzles

A few crossword puzzles, whose theme is clearly connected to the book.

These are New York Times-style puzzles, with the added constraint that many clues come from the book.  To do so, I’ve deliberately violated a few key principles of crossword puzzle design.  In the first four puzzles, the grid is not symmetric, and I’ve occasionally used some two-letter words.  In subsequent puzzles, the proportion of black squares is higher than the required one sixth, or I may have taken less clues from the area of topology.

By the way, they should be much easier to complete if you do have the book.  But you may also take up the challenge by yourself.

The difficulty is rated according to the convention that Monday puzzles are easiest, and Friday puzzles are hardest.

All puzzles are provided in both pdf format and AcrossLite format.  AcrossLite files are playable online.

  15. End of 2015 (21 x 21).  Posted December 31, 2015, pdf; AcrossLite file.  Difficulty: Sunday (for size), but really it’s a Monday as far as difficulty is concerned.
